This weekend I got a wild hair and decided to take Milo on a spur of the moment trip up to Old Faithful in Yellowstone. I hadn’t been in years and Milo had NEVER been, so it seemed like it was time. Nate was working on a deadline so it was just the two of us.
Also….I am FINALLY the proud owner of my very own 45 mm TS-E lens – that is, the funky tilt shift lens that does those cool focusing effects (amongst other things) – thanks so much to John Shim for graciously deciding to part with his, I’ll give it a good home, I promise!!! Needless to say, these were all taken with the tilt-shift.

Token (crappy) wildlife shot. We also saw a grownup deer and a moose (and a traffic jam).

The Old Faithful Lodge. I’m dying to take a winter trip up here – you take a snowcoach in from the south entrance (the roads are closed) and once you’re there can go cross country skiing, or snowshoeing, or snowmobiling, or they have photo safaris (YES!!!!), or just lay around in front of the fire for a couple of days. I think it would be SO COOL to see the geysers and such in the winter.

Just as Old Faithful was getting ready to do its thing this little guy started going off in the background. It was a valiant effort at scene-stealing, but I don’t think many people noticed.

Milo looks so tall here, I can’t get over it!

I don’t use textures a ton but I really like it in this image – what do you think?

Thanks for looking, please feel free to share and I adore comments.

Kris - Great tilt/shift shots. Looks like you had a fun day! You’re right, Milo is getting taller by the minute. Love the looking-out-the-back window shot.
Eric Lagstein - Love the tilt shift shots!
John Shim - Love it! Glad it’s found a good home. Looks like you’re making better use of it than I ever did!
Chris - UK wedding photographer - The tilt shift works great with these photographs, looks really good. The texture at the end is subtle enough to get away with it.
