About a week before Ali & Kevin’s (totally amazing!!) wedding we headed out to do a session up north of town. We hit the sunset light just right and got some beautiful golden light across the grass and mountains.  It was a great chance for them to have a little alone time (well, alone with me at least, ha) and to get to know how I work in a portrait session (I have done photos of their amazing baked goods at Persephone, but I don’t really do much directing when it comes to cupcakes ). They were so happy and smiley I didn’t do much directing here, either – you could just feel how excited they were to be getting married.

Last month I got to travel to Duluth, MN to photograph the wedding of my good friend Sharon to Andy. They had known each other in college but didn’t click until years later when a friend re-introduced them. They dated long distance for a while (Sharon used to live in Jackson, and we all miss her desperately! But understand why she had to go.) until they made the big decision for Sharon to move to Duluth and move in with Andy.

And then all of Sharon’s friends in Jackson spent the next two years or so wondering when he was going to pop the question. We all knew it was just a matter of time. And it was!

I feel so fortunate that Sharon & Andy wanted me to photograph their wedding – it was so beautiful and heartfelt and you could really see how much of themselves they put into every detail. I’ve got to say though – it’s hard to photograph a friend’s wedding without crying during the ceremony!!

Here are a few (um…ok…a LOT) of my favorites from the day -

Sharon’s mom’s cookies are legendary. In fact, when Sharon moved away, one of our biggest worries was how we were going to maintain our cookie supply. Thankfully her mom still sends out batches a few times a year, because she’s awesome.

They had an intimate ceremony with just their parents in attendance and pretty much laughed and giggled and chortled and snorted the whole time, with a respectfully solemn break for the ceremony. You could just tell how tickled they were to be together and getting married and spending the rest of their lives together – it was quite wonderful to watch.
